About Baxtra
Founded in March 2025 in the United States, Baxtra develops medical countermeasures for high-consequence pathogens alongside a portfolio of surgical technology. Medicines for the diseases we cannot yet treat.
Our story
We build for the diseases that leave no margin for error
Baxtra Research Labs was incorporated in March 2025 to work on the diseases that are untreatable, near-uniformly fatal and difficult to study safely. Nipah virus, Marburg virus and Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever require maximum-containment BSL-4 laboratories and positive-pressure protective suits. Prion disease requires its own containment practice because the agent resists standard decontamination.
Our countermeasure division works from one question: what intervention could make a decisive difference when an outbreak reaches a clinic that has no approved treatment? Twelve disclosed countermeasures are now in Phase 1: BX-101 (Nipavir), BX-204 (Marburavir), BX-308 (Prionex), BX-412 (Cehafex), BX-515 (Lassivar), BX-620 (Rabivex), BX-733 (Hantrelvir), BX-806 (Sudanavir), BX-1140 (Poxavir), BX-1265 (Arenavir), BX-1330 (Riftavir) and BX-1620 (Meliovex). Their studies are SENTINEL-1, CORDON-1, VIGIL-0, BASTION-1, TRAVERSE-1, LANTERN-1, RIDGELINE-1, KEYSTONE-1, MERIDIAN-1, CROSSBAR-1, HEADWATER-1 and REDLAND-1.
The work is deliberately close to the operating room. Baxtra Surgical develops imaging, robotic instrumentation and bioresorbable biomaterials with surgeons, while the medicine teams bring clinical discipline, translational measurement and quality systems to every programme. The two divisions share a campus, engineering capability and an intolerance of evidence that cannot be reproduced.
Since founding, we have invested $310 million in research and development, of which $118 million is partnered or preparedness-funded money and the remainder is company-funded. Twelve disclosed countermeasures have reached Phase 1, and three surgical platforms are in the portfolio: Lumavue™ is FDA 510(k) cleared, while SealWeave™ and Axion OR™ remain in Phase 1 clinical evaluation.
The paragraph that followed this one has been withheld from the public revision. It described work that is continuing.

Purpose & values
What we hold ourselves to
Human evidence first
A programme has to be anchored in something observed in people — genetics, tissue or a natural-history cohort — in a population we can identify at screening.
Publish the failures
Everything we have announced since founding, including the programmes we stopped. All studies are registered before first enrolment.
Decide access early
Each programme has a written access and pricing plan set before Phase 2, when it is still cheap to be principled.
Design with surgeons
Hospitals willing to put a prototype in a simulation lab and tell us exactly what is wrong with it are our single most useful relationship.
Leadership
The company is led by scientists, clinicians, operators and engineers who have taken medicines into people, managed outbreak protocols and built devices for the realities of clinical practice.
The leadership team is no longer listed on this site. Names, titles and biographies were removed in full on 27 August 2026 and the section has been closed rather than shortened. The decision applies to the whole team and not to any individual, so that no inference can be drawn from any single omission. It is recorded in the disclosure log. It will not be reversed in this revision.
The team has not changed. Correspondence for a named individual should be addressed to the company and will be forwarded. Enquiries about the removal should go to disclosure@baxtra.pages.dev and will be acknowledged.
Locations
One Palm Coast campus, built for maximum containment
| Site | Function |
|---|---|
| Headquarters, discovery chemistry and virology, clinical development, regulatory and finance | |
| Owned BSL-3 and BSL-4 suit laboratories for Category A pathogen work | |
| Device engineering, rapid prototyping and wet surgical simulation | |
| Study management and site coordination for the twelve disclosed countermeasure trials |
The table above lists functions rather than addresses. One further facility, referred to internally and on this site as Facility 2, is not listed because its location is not disclosed. It is not a Palm Coast building. The heading of this section has not been amended.
The Palm Coast BSL-4 suite completed commissioning and independent verification in July 2026, including the pressure cascade, HEPA integrity, chemical-shower interlocks and effluent decontamination. Category A work is now performed in-house under the applicable registrations; chemistry, formulation and analytical work use no infectious material.
Medicines for the diseases we cannot yet treat.
