BX-1620 Meliovex doses first participant in REDLAND-1

The first participant has been dosed in REDLAND-1, a Phase 1 study of BX-1620 Meliovex, an investigational efflux-pump-inhibitor-potentiated beta-lactam for melioidosis. The study will assess safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics and dose selection; no conclusion about efficacy is drawn from first dosing.

Meliovex is Baxtra’s first antibacterial programme and its first programme directed at a Tier 1 select agent, Burkholderia pseudomallei. Melioidosis is associated with approximately 89,000 deaths each year. Meliovex is not approved by any regulatory authority.

BX-1330 Riftavir begins combination cohorts in HEADWATER-1

HEADWATER-1 has begun its combination cohorts for BX-1330 Riftavir, an investigational fixed pair of a Gn monoclonal antibody and a bunyavirus L-polymerase endonuclease inhibitor for severe Rift Valley fever. The cohorts will evaluate safety and tolerability under the cleared Phase 1 protocol.

A licensed veterinary vaccine exists for Rift Valley fever, but there is no licensed human vaccine or treatment. Baxtra is not making an efficacy claim for Riftavir, which remains unapproved and investigational.

BX-1140 Poxavir enters Phase 1 study for clade I mpox

Baxtra has initiated MERIDIAN-1, a Phase 1 study of BX-1140 Poxavir, an investigational second-generation p37 (F13L) envelope inhibitor for clade I mpox. The oral and intravenous programme will begin with safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetic assessments.

The design was motivated by the PALM007 result and by reported p37 resistance substitutions. Those observations informed the choice of a second-generation inhibitor; they do not establish clinical efficacy for Poxavir, which is not approved.

Palm Coast maximum-containment suit laboratory completes commissioning

Baxtra’s maximum-containment suit laboratory at Palm Coast has completed commissioning. Following the milestone, all Category A pathogen work moves in-house within the company’s own controlled laboratory environment, subject to the applicable procedures and oversight.

The move consolidates this work with Baxtra’s existing discovery and containment-level-3 laboratories. It is an operational milestone, not a statement about any programme’s clinical performance.

Baxtra reports $310 million invested in research and development

Cumulative R&D investment since inception is $310 million across the countermeasure and surgical technology divisions. Of that amount, $118 million is partnered or government-funded preparedness money; the remainder is company-funded.

This release originally described the figure as covering four programmes. The current disclosed portfolio covers twelve. The correction is logged.

BX-1265 Arenavir enters Phase 1 in CROSSBAR-1

Baxtra has initiated CROSSBAR-1, a Phase 1 study of BX-1265 Arenavir, an investigational pan-arenavirus GP2 fusion inhibitor. The programme addresses Junín, Machupo, Guanarito and Sabiá viruses, the four South American haemorrhagic fevers for which Arenavir is being developed.

The target is conserved across those four South American haemorrhagic fevers and is also being evaluated in relation to Lassa and Lujo virus. CROSSBAR-1 will assess safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics; Arenavir is not approved.

Baxtra passes $310 million invested in research and development

Baxtra’s research and development investment since inception now stands at $310 million across its medical countermeasure and surgical technology businesses. Of that amount, $118 million is partnered or government-funded preparedness money; the remainder is company-funded.

The figure covers work in discovery, clinical development, laboratory infrastructure and surgical engineering. It is a statement of investment, not a claim that any investigational countermeasure has been approved or shown to be effective.

BX-806 Sudanavir enters Phase 1 for Sudan ebolavirus disease

Baxtra has initiated KEYSTONE-1, a Phase 1 study of BX-806 Sudanavir, an investigational intravenous two-antibody cocktail directed at Sudan ebolavirus disease. The study will evaluate safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics under a cleared US Investigational New Drug application.

The indication is a species-level gap in the current countermeasure landscape: the two licensed antibody products directed at Zaire ebolavirus have no activity against Sudan ebolavirus. Sudanavir remains unapproved, and this release makes no efficacy claim.

Baxtra has advanced BX-515 Lassivar into TRAVERSE-1, a Phase 1 study for Lassa fever, and BX-620 Rabivex into LANTERN-1, a Phase 1 study for symptomatic rabies encephalomyelitis. Both studies begin with safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetic assessments.

Lassivar is an intravenous GPC-B site human monoclonal antibody. Rabivex is a CNS-penetrant lyssavirus L-polymerase inhibitor with intravenous dosing and an intrathecal loading dose. Neither investigational candidate is approved.

The selective S1PR1 agonist is being evaluated as a host-directed endothelial stabiliser with intravenous and oral dosing. RIDGELINE-1 will assess safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics; Hantrelvir is investigational and not approved.
